Very Baby Cloth Diaper Pattern - PDF Download
$ 10.95
This versatile pattern has something for everyone; you can create a turned and topstitched fitted cloth diaper or a serged edge cloth diaper with front or side closing snaps, or front or side closing hook and loop. The soaker pads are external to create a diaper that dries in one dryer cycle without compromising absorbency.
The pattern can also be used to create effective night time diapers, diaper covers, and more using our free, bonus instructions at our weblog. Please note that if you are ordering any other items, it would be best to order them separately from the PDF patterns if you want to be able to download the patterns immediately. The link to download the PDF patterns will only be sent AFTER the rest of your order is shipped.
This pattern comes with four different pattern pieces to make the following sizes:
XS/Newborn: birth - 12lbs
Small: 10lbs - 16lbs
Medium: 15lbs - 25lbs
Large: 22lbs - 40lb
RECOMMENDED FABRIC
Diaper Body Layers - The outside is a fashion print. We recommend using a stretchy fabric such as: 100% cotton or cotton/poly blend knit prints. Woven (not stretchy) fabrics may also be used, but can reduce the range of sizes the diaper will fit. You may lengthen the wings by 1-2 inches on either side to safely use a woven print without reducing the weight range. The inner layers are referred to as “absorbent body layers”. We recommend using stretchy, absorbent fabrics such as: Sherpa knit terry, or knit terry. Less stretchy fabrics such as: cotton French terry, hemp French terry, flannels, or woven terry toweling may also be used, but keep in mind these less stretchy fabrics can also reduce the weight range similarly ro using a woven print on the outside can. For the soaker pad, we recommend using: Sherpa knit terry, hemp French terry, or hemp fleece. If you use thicker fabrics such as: burley knit terry or Nantucket fleece, you may be able to get away with only 3 layers. Thinner fabrics such as: flannel or birdseye should be used in double the recommended layers. You may make doublers out of the same or similar fabric you choose for the soaker pad. Use 3 layers for thicker fabrics, but use 6 if using flannel or birdseye.

Yardage Requirement:
Single Diaper - 3/4 yard 60" wide absorbent fabric for two full body layers and four layers of the soaker pad. Use left over scraps for booster pieces. 5/8 yard 60" wide fashion print fabric for one outer layer. If you use 60" wide, you'll have enough for a second outer print for your next diaper.
One Dozen Diapers - Making many diapers at a time is the best way to maximize your fabric width and use fabric economically. 9 yards of 60" wide absorbent fabric will yield 12 large diapers, their soakers, and booster. 3 5/8 yard of 60" wide fashion print will yield 12 outer layers.
