Diaper Flannel

Is there a difference between diaper flannel and regular flannel?

I ordered some zorb and found out it needs to be sandwiched between another fabric in order to hold up well.  I thought I would try to sandwich the zorb between flannel for the internal soaker, is this a good idea? and sandwich the zorb between microfleece for an external soaker.  I thought if there isn't a big difference in flannels, I'd just go get a bit locally and save on shipping etc.  comments?

I've wondered the same thing. Before I ordered anything to sew diapers with (I guess I didn't know about this forum) I emailed back and forth with someone I found on Twitter who had used a Very Baby pattern. Here's part of what she wrote:

For inside fabric, the cheapest and my favorite is just flannel, and I'd probably buy it with a 40% off coupon from Joann.

I did that (you could use this: http://www.couponseven.com/coupons/JoAnn.asp), and I bought a lot so that's what I've sewn with. It's worked just fine. I did order samples from the website just a couple weeks ago, so I compared. The diaper flannel seems slightly thinner and slightly softer than the flannel I got from Joann's.

You can use the flannel from Joanns and it will work just fine!  If you ever have some extra money, though, you might want to give diaper flannel a try.  Or, more specifically, killington flannel.  I thought all flannel was the same until I bought killington flannel.  It is SO soft and SO thick.  And it dyes really well.  I'm totally addicted!  If you want to know where to get some, feel free to send me an email (I don't want to throw out competitors names, just to be on the safe and considerate side!).   cheerful

I just bought a couple rolls of Killington....it's the best flannel I've laid my hands on.  I had problems with the Joann's flannel wearing thin after multiple washes.  No such problem with this stuff and at $4/yd it's the cheapest diaper flannel I've found yet.
