sew your own diapers

Could the tabs on the VB pocket diaper be made shorter and use only 2 vertically placed snaps (similar to bum genius)?

I'm using the industrial size 20 snaps and I'm finding the snaps on the  fold over tab to be a little tricky to apply since the snaps are so close together.  It also seems like its a little bulky and could be eliminated if the tabs were shorter?

Would this change the stability or fit of the diaper as I've heard using one horizontal row of snaps would (wing droop)?

Any thoughts?
