No time to sew?
« on: July 29, 2010, 02:04:27 AM »

Wow.  It's like a ghost town around here.  I swear I can see virtual tumbleweeds rolling across the screen!   laughing

Actually, I was just checking to see if it's just me, or is it just impossible to sew lately?!?!  And I was going to ask all you supermoms (maevemom comes to mind!  cheerful) HOW you find time to sew?!?!?!  But, as I said, looks like no one has had time!

I've managed to sew a pair of training pants for my son, and am working on another pair.  I basically sew one seam a day!  I'm still working on postpartum pads, and STILL fighting with my serger, trying to serge the edges of the pads!!  AARRGGG!!

I'm hoping to post pics soon of the few things I've sewn.  On the other hand, I've made about 7 batches of soap!  Smiley  AND I put the baby's crib together!   love

I'm out of snaps, but finished sewing a small pocket diaper last night. If it fits, I'll be making a whole stash and posting pictures soon.

I've also been cleaning up my yard this week which is taking away sewing time during naps...

Good luck finding some time!

Can't wait to see the pics!  And oh my gosh--your kids nap?!?!?!  You are SOOO lucky!!  My almost 10 month old won't nap unless we happen to be driving around and she falls asleep.  Sometimes we take her for a walk to get her to fall asleep, but she doesn't stay asleep long.  She has mini-catnaps.  And last night she didn't go to sleep until 11:00 and woke up at 8:00!!!!  DEFINITELY not enough sleep for her.

Nope.. No time to sew. Smiley  I did a little bit of sewing making some pocket diapers but have got to take care of other things right now.. like my house.. Smiley  oh.. and the kitchen that seems to be perpetually a disaster...  I just popped on to see what everyone else is up to. Smiley  I actually am banning myself from my sewing desk unless it is to make something we NEED.. like underwear for our 2.5 year old... The boy changes his underwear more times ina day!!!  If he gets water dumped on his lap he has to change... and he dumps his glass at meal times ALL THE TIME!  So.. we are majorly short on underwear now... laughing

I finished sewing the postpartum babymoon pads and then decided to sew some more prefolds before our second baby arrives.  Alas, my sewing machine pooped out on me when I only had three more to do, so now I haven't sewn for the past two days.  I guess it was a sign for me to stop that and finish other important things, like pack my hospital bag and get the knit wool covers lanolized.  Now I think we're ready for the big day, which is any moment now.

I have 4 kids under 6 and I probably get about 4 afternoons a week when they are all sleeping. I have always put them in their beds even if they aren't tired. The older ones are allowed to read books, and the baby isn't always asleep when the others are, but it is possible to get some quiet time if they are trained to stay in their beds!

4 kids under age 6?!  And you still find time to sew!!  Wow.  I'm going to have to mentally put you in the "wonderwoman" column with maevemom!   Grin

How exciting!!  A new baby any day!  But how on earth do you find the energy to sew?

I know this forum will be the last thing on your mind after having your baby, but will you let me know how t he postpartum pads work out?  Just whenever you have a chance and if you think about it.  I'm making some to sell, but I'm trying to get the soaker material just right.  I'm trying to figure out how much is too much/too thick.  I don't want to defeat the purpose of the AWESOME ice pocket!

Thanks Monika, I will try to let you know what I think of them once I put those pads through some good use.  I am actually pretty excited to try them out, especially with the ice packet.

It is so true not enough hours in the day to get everything done that needs to be done.  Making sewing the last thing on the list!
