sew your own diapers

I know from other posts and from the way the pattern is done that the microfleece/suedecloth does not need to roll in.  In all of the site pictures though, it appears to do just that and I would really like to achieve that look.  I've tried cutting the PUL layer wider but it's not making a difference.  How do I sew this pattern to achieve the look shown in the pictures?
