VB One Size Pocket Diaper Pattern versus One Size Fitted Diaper Pattern

I'm a first time mom to be and would love help determining which pattern to use.  Is the One Size Fitted Diaper Pattern for making AIOs? Is there some sort of stuffing you place inside or do you also need a soaker (or something else)?

What are the major differences between the 2 patterns?

Why would you make a pocket diaper vs. a AIO?

Thanks!

A fitted diaper is a diaper that does not have a waterproof cover on it.  with the VB pattern there is a soaker that you tuck in next to the baby.  Some people make the soakers snap in while others just lay them in.  You would need to make covers.

a pocket diaper is a waterproof cover with a pocket in it to stuff with something absorbant.  The pocket part is made of a fabric that allows the urine to "wick" through to the absorbant layer.

an AIO is a diaper that is all in one..cover and absorbant layer all together.. They take longer to dry typically.

The main reason people would go with a pocket diaper over an AIO is drying time.

If you have other questions feel free to ask away and if I know I'll answer. Smiley

I'm looking for something that doesn't require a soaker (if possible) unless extra absorption is required (like for evening).  I'd like something thats AIO - Bumgenius 4.0 would be an example (or am i misunderstanding the AIO concept, it seems a required soaker would make it a AI2)
Thanks.

A pattern I looked at that has an AIO option was the Jalie pattern. They have a video on youtube showing you how to sew it all together. It's not a one-size though, but I found the video helpful even when using other patterns. Maybe you can use the VB one-size pattern with some of the suggestions from the Jalie video.

An AIO still has a soaker, it's just that it's attached to the inside of the diaper.

i know the couple of aio's i bought AGES ago did have soakers, but you don't see thgem!!  the aio has the soaker sew in between the fabric.  i didn't like aio's not because of the drying time but because i couldnt get them clean . . .i have a front laoder and really hard water and the water cant pass through the diaper in the way it can when the soaker is not sewn within the diaper. i am in an ai2 phase now as opposed to pockets . . . love them!
