Babymoon pattern
« on: June 30, 2010, 12:08:58 PM »

Hey, ladies!  I'm seeking input from those of you who have used the Babymoon pads, or who have made them (and have perhaps received feedback).  I made the soaker pad following the instructions, but it seems kind of thin.  I realize you don't want to make it too thick, or you won't be able to feel the coolness from the ice.  Does anyone know if the 3 or 4 layers of material is enough?  Has anyone tried something different?  The pattern said you could try putting strips of more absorbent material down the middle--anyone tried that?  Any help would be much appreciated!  I'm hoping to sell these, so I really need to know what works best!   cheerful

I used the actual pads...  Ended up not even needing the soaking pads I made... no swelling or tenderness!!! YAY!!!  If I remember right the pads had 3 layers sherpa knit terry and they worked GREAT!  I thought it would be too little when I made them but when it came time to actually USE them they were perfect!  I think I only came close to staining panties ONCE and that was a night that I went to bed REALLY early and got up REALLY late... It had JUST started to sick to the edge of the pad when I got up...  I was pretty impressed!  I am NOT going back to disposable pads... Cant wait for VB to put out the regular pads tutorial!  I have another pads pattern too that I had been working on when my sewing machines decided they were done putting in the long hours and just up and left me in the lurch....  DH is trying to figure out how to do repairs himself instead of me dragging them along to the repair man... SUre hope he gets them working soon!~!!!!!!!  I am going into sewing withdrawls here...........I have a bunch of things I want to sew... BUUUUUUUUU  Snif Snif.....

Could I use birdseye for the soakers?  I have 5 yards I need to use up!  If so, how many layers would I use?  Thanks!

Yay!  Thanks Cristy, LOVED reading how they worked for you!  embarrassed)

Monika - try 5 or 6, I think that would be nicely absorbent without being too thick!
