Our new Very Baby One Size Pocket Diaper Pattern allows you to sew a pocket diaper that will adjust to fit most babies 12 pounds to 35+ pounds.

One diaper = Three sizes: Small, medium, and large.

You can adjust the rise using the size snaps.

Note: Instructions are included to make an easy slit-style pocket opening rather than the patented leading edge opening. Visit our tutorials section for three alternative methods for creating your pocket diaper opening.

Pattern includes instructions for front snapping closures or front hook & loop closures as well as instructions to make two sizes of inserts.

You will Need

To make one diaper
20" x 20" piece of waterproof PUL
20" x 20" piece of microfleece or suedecloth
20" length of 1/4" wide polybraid elastic
High Quality 100% polyester thread
14/90 Stretch or Ballpoint needles

For View A: Hook & Loop Closing Diaper
(Size 16 or 20 plastic or size 16 metal snaps)
4 snap sockets
2 snap studs
6 snap caps (or metal open ring snaps)
14.5 inches Aplix® Loop (1.5" wide)
3 inches Aplix® Hook (1.5" wide)

For View B: Front Snap Closing diaper
(Size 16 or 20 plastic or size 16 metal snaps)
28 snap sockets
10 snap studs
38 snap caps (8 caps the rest can be open rings if using metal snaps)

For the Inserts
Large insert (for large & medium setting): 28" x 11" piece of microfiber terry or similar (creates 1 large insert)
Small insert (use as doubler on larger sizes, or create two for small size): 24" x 8" piece of microfiber terry or similar (creates 1 small insert)

Machines and Methods

Very Baby One Size Pocket Diapers can be sewn with a serger or a regular sewing machine. If you use a serger, some steps will be completed on the sewing machine.
